The nine Professional Standards for BC Educators are expectations of behaviour that certified teachers must follow in British Columbia. Previously a set of eight Standards, Standard 9 was added to reflect British Columbia’s commitment to truth and reconciliation. Teachers in British Columbia are guided professionally and personally by these Standards. Furthermore, the public looks to the Standards to understand the expectations of the teaching profession. As a teacher candidate, these standards help me to understand the responsibilities and expectations of the teaching profession.
