The Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action are 94 obtainable recommendations written in 2015 by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. These Calls to Action have two purposes: to acknowledge the impacts of Canada’s treatment of Indigenous peoples and to ensure these kinds of things never happen again (Reconciliation Education). As a future teacher, I am especially concerned about Calls to Action 62 to 65. These Calls to Action focus on integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into BC’s curriculum. I keep these Calls to Action in mind while developing lesson and unit plans for class and practicum and will continue to think of this as a teacher.
